Features of Hawaii islands

The Hawaiian Islands is a beautiful, faraway place in the Pacific Ocean. Archipelago combines eight islands and was named by name of the largest of islands – Hawaii.
The Hawaii were formed by volcanoes, and some of islands are still continuing to grow.

The first people to settle in the Hawaii were the Polynesians. For all world islands were opened by Captain Cook in 1778. After people from different parts of the world settled on the Hawaiian Islands and changed their nation culture and traditions. In spite of some of Hawaiian traditions have been forgotten, two of them are alive today. There are the “lei” (a necklace made of flowers) and “hula” (a Hawaiian dance). Especially strong traditions had saved on the small island Niihau, which is owned by one family and is closed for tourists.Kahoolawe, another small and the uninhabited island, was used for religious ceremonies for many years. Then island was taken over by United States Navy. Now island was return to people again as a place for special Hawaiian religious and cultural ceremonies.

In spite of differences between them, islands have many same features. They all have tropical climate, volcanic mountains, waterfalls, rain forests and beautiful beaches, some unique birds, flowers and animals, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. These features attractive tourists from over the world.For example, island Kauai is a real tropical paradise with many square miles of thick green forests, flowering bushes, warm and moist air, clean white sand and a breathtaking views. Here are situated the tallest of mountains on island Mount Waialeale, which catches the clouds and collects rain, and Waimea Canyon.

The Hawaii is a tropical paradise most of the time, but sometimes there are happened as natural disasters as erupting of volcanoes, tsunami and hurricanes.
Hawaii is good place for fans of water sports: swimming, sport fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, surfing, snorkeling and scuba driving.

Today Hawaii is the 50th state of USA. The modern capital of Hawaii is Honolulu, which is situated on the island of Oahu.Many ethnic groups live friendly on the islands.And island’s features and unforgettable scene attractive tourists from over the world.
