Advantages and disadvantages of living in a big city

A city is a place where everything goes round so quickly that sometimes you don’t mention something. It is cultural and industrial centre of the country. But living in a big city has both advantages and disadvantages.

The first advantage is that a city is the best place to develop yourself. You can find there everything: museums, theaters, clubs, cinemas, universities. Also, a big city is a place where you can easy make friends with very interesting people and be in the centre of important events. In a big city you can have an unique chance to visit historical places, walk along meandering streets.

Secondly, a big city is a good place to find well-paid job. You can have a good chance of promotion and achieve the aim.

Thirdly, a big city is a place where everything we want in our everyday life is situated near us. There are plenty of different shops. Futhermore, we have one more opportunity: this shops provide us a wide range of all kinds goods.

On the other hand, living in a big city is a challenge. Of course, there are some disadvantages too. The first one is that a big city life is full of hustle and bustle! People, who live in a big city, very often suffer from nervous breakdown, people keep themselves to themselves. Sometimes people feel lonely in a big crowd. Nobody care about you.

Secondly, big cities suffer from overpopulation, grubby air and water, noise. Every day we can face with such problem as traffic jams. What concern me, I hate when people just squeeze onto a bus or an underground train just to get anywhere. But everybody knows that the next train will arrive in a few minutes.

And finally, the cost of living in a big city is very high. A part from accommodation, you have to pay for the public transport and the goods are much more expensive.

As for me, I prefer living in a town which is within a big city and a country. I think it is a gold middle, because you have an opportunity to develop my skills. But on the other hand, I can be more or less protect from pollution, haphazard crowd and nervous breakdown.
