About volcanoes

Just about seven thousand disasters happened for the last 48 years. As a result more than 2.5 million people suffered. Those consequences become more and more awful. But any country cannot impede them.

One of the most terrible catastrophes is a volcanic eruption. A volcano is a hole in the earth-crust, from which the mixture of gases, steams, ashes and lava flows are usually thrown out.

There are twenty two active volcanoes on the Philippines. These "fire mountains" erupted more than fifty times since 1616. In 1814 the whole town was buried under the volcanic dirt. About 200 people died in ruins.

The eruption of the volcano Pinatubo in 1991 was the most powerful all over the world in the 20th century.
The dangerous disaster also happened last year in Indonesia. Its name was Kalud. At that time 35 people perished.
There are 500 volcanoes on the Indonesian islands and 130 of them are active. The local authority usually tries to evacuate people in time.
On the Hawaiian islands there is a volcano called as Maunanloa. It was born in sea deepness and now it is a high mountain, that sometimes throws out some liquid lava.
Nobody can stop this natural disaster. People only have to take into account special notices and evacuate in time of it is necessary and possible.
